Eddys Pub

Is having a MEAT DRAW on Sunday the 24th, starting at 1:30 pm. Some of the proceeds will be donated to the club, so if you can make it, please support this event!

-----------------

Some of you are concerned about the ecologically sensitive grasslands that we have around the Lake, and wish to know who to contact about areas that may need repair.

The best way is through the reporting line which a person can do by phone or online (1 877-952-7277 toll-free (or #7277 on a cellphone)/ https://forms.gov.bc.ca/industry/report-a-natural-resource-violation/

The information is passed to the assigned triaging officer and an officer will be assigned if necessary. Thank you for being aware of how important it is to look after our natural resources!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Do you have a business, particular skill set or talent that you would like to make available to other members of the club?  We would love to know about it! We are trying to create a list of skills to enable us to use our own resources to help with club or members’ tasks. We would rather pay our own members for services instead of paying travel costs for someone to come from outside the 70 Mile House area. We feel this will help build stronger ties of community within the club, and add a greater sense of ownership to our wonderful region.  If you would like to be included in this directory, please reply to  grlksnowmobileclubinfo@gmail.com  with the following information:

Name:
Contact Info:
Type of Goods or Services:

For example, we are looking for someone with a backhoe to help smooth out some of the trail leaving from the club house cattle gates.

A special thank you to Gerry Goosen, who so generously donated his time, effort, materials, and skill to re-install our Clubhouse information sign. As you may know, the tree that the sign was hanging on finally became unstable. It was decided to put it on posts, so there should be no issues in the future.

THANKS GERRY!

Snowmobile Safety:

  • We often get calls from people who become stuck or lost out on the trails and beyond. Keep in mind that you need to go prepared, in case it happens to you. The snowmobile club will try to assist if possible, but please note that this is not a given. It will depend upon what, where, when, and who is available to go out. We are not trained or equipped for rescue operations. Sometimes your best bet may be to call Cariboo Search and Rescue 250-395-3210 or police. Here is a minimal checklist of how you can prepare:
  • Never ride alone!
  • Leave a route plan with someone at home, and stick to it.
  • Have a collapsible snow shovel with you in case you need to dig your sled out.
  • Take your fully charged cell phone with you, and extra power for it if you can.
  • Take snacks and water
  • Take a flashlight (Not your phone).
  • Have the ability to make a fire.
  • Have an emergency heat blanket in case you are stuck overnight.
  • Remember your GPS if you have one.
  • Put the Search and Rescue and other emergency phone numbers into your phone.

November Snowflake Potluck

We would like to invite members of the Snowmobile club and a guest, if you have someone in mind,  to the November Snowflake Potluck. The doors will be open at 5.  A few games are planned, along with a raffle, so twoonies and twenties and anything in between might be needed!!  We would love to see lots of wonderful food and of course, the bringers of the food, for an evening of reconnecting and hopefully a wee bit of fun.
We will have a sign in sheet for guests in order to help the club as the members review the guest policy. There will be a donation jar for guests to help with the costs.
Your Nov. 19th conveeners, Sue and Diane. Set up for this Event will be on Thursday the 17th at @ 10am.

Do what’s right, not what’s easy.

Halloween Potluck

Welcome back, members and their guests, to one of the first clubhouse functions in two years!! On October 29th, the conveners of the night: Rita, Kris, and Diane, would like to invite you to a Hallowe’en Potluck. Costumes and/or a decorated Covid mask are optional, but there is a prize! Games are planned and are optional, but there are prizes! A “guess the count “is optional, but there is a prize!  A 50/50 ticket fundraiser will be happening with tickets at 3 for $5 or 15 for $10. As per usual it is a BYOB and Potluck event. On the Potluck side, anything goes. Happy Hour is at 5 and dinner is about 6.

For those who wish to help before and after, we are setting up on the 26th at 10 a.m. and truly appreciate any clean up help on the yet to be determined day.

We hope to see you there,

Rita, Kris, and Diane

Website Update

Hi everyone,

There has been some problems with the links to the posts going to “404 page not found”.

That should be fixed now for future emails.

I’ve also installed a new calendar for future events. There was some compatibility issues with the old one.

If anyone has any problems, please reply to my admin email.

Thanks,

Larry Messaros
